The first part of Sea World's $50 million The New Atlantis expansion is now complete, with new thrill ride Vortex opening to guests.

First announced in May 2019, the new Suspended Top Spin model from Huss was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This new attraction takes guests on a thrilling adventure as they experience forces of up to 5g, speeds of 30 km/h and a height of 18m.

Clark Kirby, CEO of Village Roadshow Theme Parks:

“We are incredibly excited to officially open the Vortex ride at Sea World, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests to experience this thrilling attraction. While on the ride, guests will tumble and whirl through the air as they experience pendulum movements and circular rotations all while taking in the spectacular views of the park.”

“The New Atlantis is going to be a game-changer for Sea World and will become a destination where our guests can experience the myths, mysteries, quests and challenges located within the new multi-million-dollar utopian precinct. At Village Roadshow Theme Parks, we are committed to providing world-class attractions and the opening of rides such as these are a drawcard for the Gold Coast as a tourism destination.”

Vortex is the first attraction to open in The New Atlantis at Sea World, which will also feature two other exciting attractions; Leviathan, a wooden roller coaster, and Trident, a 42m high Sky Flyer attraction, both opening in mid-2021.
